City League Championship Day - East Enders take 2 of 3

Oshawa Minor Lacrosse Association's City League came to a close on Saturday, June 17th, with the East Enders taking 2 of 3 championships.

The day opened up with the U5 Peanuts running a relay race where everyone was a winner!  The U5 Peanuts this year amazed us with their quick pickup of basic lacrosse skills such as scooping, cradling, throwing, shooting, and running.  Quite a few of the group will graduate to U6 Junior Paperweight next year and will start playing games.  Congrats 2023 U5 Peanuts!

Next up North Ridges took on East End in the U7 Semi-Final and while the East Enders put up a great battle, the shorthanded North Ridges team came away with a 6-1 victory!  Congrats Coach Dave and the East End for a great season!

In the U7 Paperweight Final, West Side broke open a very close game in the second half to come away with a 5-3 win and hoist the City League Cup!  Congrats to Coaches Liam, Trevor, and Tom for an excellent season for West Side and North Ridges!

The U9 division was much closer in the playoffs than the regular season.  East End needed sudden-death overtime to defeat the determined West End team 3-2!  In the Final, the East Enders scored in the last 10 seconds of a tie game to win the Cup over the Regular Season Champ North Ridges 4-3.  Congrats Coaches Jack, Kim, Todd, Matt and all the players for a great season of U9 action!

There was drama in the final game for the U11/U13 Novice Plus division.  East End were regular season champs and had won the first game of a 2-game total goal series 12-4 on the previous Thursday.  In the second game West took a 6-4 lead into the 3rd period, but East End made the comeback to tie the game with 30 seconds left.  A 7-7 tie game the East the Cup this year on total goals.

But everyone agreed the division MVP for the U11/13 Novice Plus was AJ Jr. who made some spectacular stops in his first season playing goal.  Congrats to Coaches Ryan, Conall, Tom, & Jeremy for making this season great for all the players!

HAVE A GREAT SUMMER EVERYONE!
